PERSONAL REFLECTION
Homelessness in Australia is a major social justice issue, it can affect many people from all different age levels. There are three type of homelessness; sleeping rough, stop gap housing, boarding house residents and marginally housed all of which people are left
without a house to call their own. Homelessness is not just been left with nowhere to live it is more than that, it is feeling lonely, feeling like you have nothing, everything has been taken from you. The many people you see on the streets today haven’t chosen to
live like that, there are many problems that can cause someone to become homeless; physical, emotional or sexual abuse, family or relationship breakdowns, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, not enough affordable housing and many more. Although there are homeless shelters to help out with the problem many of them are full to the brim and are now turning people away.
Homelessness isn’t a joke these people are suffering and are forced to sleep on park benches or down a side alley of a street ,they have little or no belongings and some have to resort to cardboard boxes or newspapers just to give them a little protection at night, they have little food and are forced to wear old worn out clothes every day, these people are constantly given dirty looks and
are made to feel not good enough, but who are they to judge they don’t know their story, they don’t know what they have been through.
